Japan is a great island nation. With over 7,000 islands, calm weather, stunning coastline and rustic fishing towns, Japan is a land of wonders. Often overlooked as a great yacht charter destination, Japan delights with its incredible cuisine, culture and history. For the food lovers, there are more Michelin starred restaurants in Tokyo than in London, Paris and New York combined and the capital has plenty to see and do.

A haven for scuba divers and surfers alike, a luxury yacht charter in Okinawa represents a great opportunity. With sugar soft white-sand beaches and tropical sun, the islands that make up this archipelago are a dream. The coral reefs of Okinawa are a sanctuary for many endangered species of fish, sharks and sea turtles. The chain features castle ruins, temples and monuments built for ancient Ryukyu kings as well as WWII relics.

The Seto Inland Sea separates the great islands of Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. Stunning beaches, turquoise waters, ancient monuments and traditional fishing towns dot the coast here. The red Torri gate, a 12th century Shinto monument and part of the Itsukushima-jinja Shrine juts from the water. Take the yacht’s tender and slowly drift through the gate for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Japan is a land of mystery and wonder, and despite not being a traditional yacht charter destination, with the right preparation and logistics, can make for a truly magical experience. There is plenty more to see and do, speak to the SWM Yachts charter team for further inspiration and guidance about booking a luxury Japanese yacht charter.
